Helping out at the StandTALL office from the 17th -21th of November 2014 was a varied experience that taught me a lot. |

I completed office work like translating the website and newsletter, or sorting out patient records. Running any organization required a lot of human resources. StandTALL continues to regularly follow up with their patients, six years after the incident when it is no longer in the media spotlight. This is extremely special. |

Visiting and interviewing patient Pang Ya Zhi at Li Po Chun UWC really stood out to me. A question I had was how she was to adapt to the English Usage Environment at LPC. I was glad to see that she greeted anyone who came by confidently and told us she understand most class content. How she fearlessly and independently adapted to this new environment really amazed me and I thought she must’ve used the same strength to overcome her disability from the earthquake. Ya Zhi was considerate about whether if changes made around the school to meet her needs would impact schoolmates. I could see how the prosthetic legs have helped Ya Zhi regain mobility. I hope to visit her again in the near future. |
