12th of May 2008 was a day of unbearable grief for too many. On that day, lives of families and friends were taken away mercilessly, and houses that many Sichuan people grew up in became debris in the blink of an eye. Unexpectedly during my visit to Sichuan, all I could see and feel was hope and indomitable vitality of Sichuan people, and their iron-will to restart their journey in adversity.

Although my stay in Sichuan was only two days, I had so much deeper understanding of the insights of life. The unyielding spirit of the students at You Ai School was great inspiration to any of us. Their limbs might be crushed or amputated, their bodies might be imperfect, but the physical defect did not prevent them to be outstanding.

We played basketball with them at school. They were so good at it and able to run as normal. We peformed jump-shot, we dribbled, we ran, we sweat, and we immersed in great fun. Sport was never a challenge to them because they had made every possible effort to overcome their shortcomings.

We were all born with talents. Disaster may take away one thing, but replacement is always prepared for you. There was a girl whose voice when singing was so sweet and tender that touched our hearts. Earthquake may take away your hands, but leave you with legs; may take away your eyes, but leave you with sharp ears, as long as you are still breathing.

The patients had gone through unimaginable difficulties in order to survive. Being physically capable, we should always appreciate and cherish life. We should also contribute to the world whenever we can. I hope that all of us can have splendid life and beautiful future.
