Comprehensive medical consultation and rehabilitation services |
|
Many years have passed since Wenchuan Earthquake in Sichuan. Most of the patients are on the right track of rehabilitation and reintegrated into their new lives.
Most of the patients are teenagers who are very active, therefore, their prosthetic limbs are tent to suffer higher wear and tear. Some patients are still children. They would even have to undergo stump reconditioning surgery before installing prosthetic limbs. Stand TALL would go to Sichuan every three months to offer orthopaedics consultation and prosthetic limbs orthopaedic service to not only patients from Wenchuan Earthquake, but also from Yanan Earthquake.
To facilitate rehabilitation training for patients, Stand TALL has set up a Rehabilitation Service Outreach Station in Du Jiang Yan You Ai School. Our physiotherapists and prosthesis orthopaedist would periodically visit the school to give advice on the rehabilitation training to the students and patients nearby, and to inspect their prostheses.

Surgeries in Hong Kong |
Among the patients dealt with by Stand TALL, most are teenagers in adolescence. Their skeletons are in rapid growth stage and bone regeneration could bring great pain to their stumps when walking in prostheses. Skin on stumps are also tent to suffers more sever abrasion. If the above happen, patients should receive stump reconditioning surgery before re-installing prosthetic limbs. This does not only resolve skin abrasion, but also give better usage of the prosthesis to improve quality of life.
Besides, for the injuries with feet deformity, Stand TALL have arranged feet orthopaedics surgeries to relieve their pain when walking and reduce foot skin abrasion, so that they can walk further and steady on their path of lives.
From August 2014 to July 2015, Stand TALL had arranged five patients to The Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin for surgeries. Name list and the date are as below: |
