Depressed, moody and sensitive, those were the emotions I thought I would see in the victims of Sichuan. I'm pretty sure those would be the emotions I would have felt if I was the one who befell the tremendous hazard. The whole excursion was amazing. I learnt a lot on this trip as I now know the actual aftermath. The damage on the children was serious, most of the patients we visited were missing two limbs. However, to my surprise, they were optimistic and overcame their tragedy enough to joke about it. I remember when one of the volunteers absent-mindedly asked a girl in a wheelchair which kind of arm exercises the doctor recommended her do, she gave a chuckle as she told him that it was her legs that were severed, and her arms were fine. Her light-heart was the highlight of my day.

Their courage is also very admirable. The encounter with GuoHong was very moving. Being a boy with no legs, he was very cheerful. And knowing the fact that he started training after his catastrophic experience and had become the champion of the Para Olympics, I extremely respect him, his attitude towards life is very inspiring.

It was a pity that when we arrive at Sichuan, it was raining hard and some activities were postponed or cancelled. I hope that the next time we visit, there would be an even more full and fruitful trip.
